The isiZulu word Amathuba means ‘Opportunities’.
The Amathuba Foundation, founded and based in Hilton, believes that a single bursary or scholarship opportunity can change the trajectory of a child’s life, unlocking their full potential and bringing hope. But opportunity alone is not enough. That hope needs to be looked after and guided well, through mentorship.
Our Difference: At Amathuba our Mentors offer individual, side by side mentorship from the ages of 12 – 22 years old. They walk alongside and ‘hold the space’ for every one of the individuals in our programme, understanding how they feel and supporting their individual growth. We work in partnership with their high school support system to grow emotional skills, self-belief and confidence, whilst providing academic support to help mentees make the most of every opportunity that comes their way.
Our Goal – Confident, balanced, well-educated and authentic individuals who know who they are and what they stand for; individuals who are ready to contribute to the world around them.
